Edmonton Green in 1969
Aerial view, shortly before the area arond the green was razed to the ground to make way for the Edmonton Green shopping centre and tower blocks. Hertford Road curves away in the background; in the foreground the low level railway (built in 1849) cuts through the ancient green. The war memorial, centre foreground, was the only feature incorporated into the new development. The EPS commented adversely on some of the changes. - Fighting for the future, page 274.
